The University of Toronto and the University of São Paulo

  • The University of Toronto and the University of São Paulo (USP) are actively engaged in a strategic research partnership, with USP being U of T’s leading partner in South America for co-authored publications. Both institutions targeted seed funding for joint research projects in neuroscience, oncology, global cities, and international relations. And as part of his 2013 inauguration address, President Meric Gertler highlighted U of T’s relationship with USP as an exemplary model for international cooperation when he underscored the importance of internationalization.

Please note: The country and institutional pages provide but a sampling of the rich and deep relationships that the U of T community enjoys with many countries, institutions, communities and partners around the world.

    • USP’s Institute of International Relations is one of Latin America’s most important centres and is a major global partner for U of T’s Munk School of Global Affairs.
    • The U of T-USP joint collaboration that began in 2012 resulted in 4 conferences between 2012 and 2015, co-hosted in Toronto and São Paulo, and 12 jointly funded projects mutually selected through joint calls for proposals.
